What is the role?

The Confidant Network and Safe Reporting (CNSR) team are seeking applications from suitably qualified candidates wishing to be considered for the role of Case Manager, Confidant Network and Safe Reporting.

The CNSR team provides holistic support and advice to our people who may be experiencing, have experienced, or are aware of harmful workplace behaviours including sexualised behaviours within, or connected to the workplace.

Case Managers within Safe Reporting adopt a confidential, person-centred and trauma-informed approach when working with our clients to achieve a resolution. As a Case Manager, you must have the ability to be empathetic while remaining impartial and non-judgmental and possess a strong awareness of the importance of maintaining confidentiality. CNSR also oversees the AFP's confidential peer support program, the Confidant Network.

The team provides oversight and guidance on all Confidant Network referrals, maintaining appropriate case management records and ensuring compliance with the National Guideline on the Confidant Network. The team maintains regular contact with Confidants to assist them in providing appropriate options and support to our people. 

What will you do?

Within this position, Case Managers will be responsible for: 

  • Client and/or Confidant support and one on one confidential consultation, to identify appropriate options to reach informed decisions. 
  • Contributing to the identification of current and emerging issues and the monitoring and enhancement of integrity performance of the AFP. 
  • Liaising with various internal stakeholders to ensure the best response options and outcomes for clients. 
  • Building positive partnerships with the AFP's Health and Wellbeing Services (SHIELD), Professional Standards (PRS), Performance Management, Diversity and Inclusion and others, to ensure a holistic approach to early intervention and the management of complex workplace matters. 
  • Preparation of briefs, reports and other sensitive documents. 
  • Assistance in the delivery of CNSR presentations to internal audiences, such as recruit training and staff induction programs. 
  • Preparation, analysis and reporting of CNSR data in a variety of contexts.
Essential Requirements
  • You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
  • A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality is essential. 
  • Empathy, non-judgement and exceptional listening skills. 
  • Contemporary knowledge and relevant experience. 
  • High levels of resilience and flexibility.
  • Excellent verbal communications skills and ability to present in public workshops.
Desirable Requirements

The following skills and/or experience would be highly regarded:

  • Prior experience in complaints resolutions, injury management or welfare officer roles will be highly regarded.
