JOB TITLE: Recovery Support Worker / Peer Worker (Mental Health Support Worker)
Employment Type: Casual / Part-time/full-time / Traineeship
Location: Tamworth/Armidale
Programs:
- Outreach team (Operating between 8 am to 8 pm, flexible roster, weekend work). Currently seeking employees with availability for afternoon/ evening shifts
- Accommodation program (Currently seeking employees with availability for in-active sleepover shift from 6pm to 8am)
- Youth Team (Operating between 8am to 8pm)

ABOUT THE ROLE:
The core purpose of this role is to support participants recovering from Psychosocial Disability with a complex trauma history. The role provides on-the-ground in-home support as well as community access and independent supported living. The key responsibilities are;
- Assist with and support the individual with their daily living activities, community engagement and social interactions
- Implement the psychosocial supports outlined in the behaviour support plan where available
- Support each participant in navigating their own personal goals (as outlined in their NDIS plan)
- Promote recovery-oriented support and utilise strength-based language, care and respect at all times
- Work collaboratively and professionally with the team and key stakeholders including community mental health, the Department of Health, other partners in the community and family members
- Mandatory completion of daily reporting – records, barriers, incidents
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
We are looking for employees who are compassionate, reliable and genuinely care and have the following;
- at least 1-year experience working in the mental health sector/disability sector and/or
- relevant qualifications in Mental Health or disability
- relevant tertiary qualification
Relevant checks including;
Current Working with Children Check (WWCC)
Current NDIS Workers check (NDISWC)
Australian Driver's licence and access to a reliable/registered, and fully insured vehicle
First Aid Certificate
Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (Including Booster) and able to produce evidence
Right to work in Australia
good communication and relationship building skills
- knowledge and understanding of mental health issues
- genuine desire to provide the best quality care for people with psychosocial disabilities
- the capacity to work flexible hours on a roster system, including weekdays, weekends and sleepover or active night shifts
