About Us
The South Australian Metropolitan Fire Service (MFS) is responsible for protecting the South Australian community from the effects of fire, road crashes, chemical incidents, and other emergencies. We are a team of approximately 1,300 operational personnel and corporate professionals serving the community across 20 metropolitan and 17 regional fire stations.
About the Role
The Project Manager (Infrastructure) is responsible for managing and delivering infrastructure projects that support the MFS's operational capability and long-term strategic needs.
Reporting to the Manager, Strategic Governance (Infrastructure), the position leads the planning, design, and delivery of new and upgraded facilities, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of safety and quality.
As the Project Manager (Infrastructure), you will:
- Manage the end-to-end delivery of capital and minor works projects within agreed timeframes and budgets.
- Provide expert advice on infrastructure planning, design, and project management practices.
- Prepare project documentation including business cases, risk registers, design briefs, reports, and executive briefings.
- Coordinate and liaise with a range of stakeholders including MFS management, government agencies, consultants, and contractors.
- Apply sound project management, forecasting, and reporting to ensure compliance with MFS and government standards.
- Incorporate effective risk management and mitigation strategies across all stages of project delivery.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of MFS facilities through modern, sustainable, and fit-for-purpose design.
- Support the MFS's broader strategic and operational goals through the efficient management of physical assets and infrastructure investments.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Proven experience managing infrastructure or capital works projects within a government or complex organisational setting.
- Strong ability to plan, coordinate and deliver multiple projects while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, briefings, and technical documentation.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project).
- Sound knowledge of project governance, risk management, procurement, and construction processes.
- Understanding of relevant legislation, codes, and standards including the National Construction Code and Government Office Accommodation Guidelines.
Desirable qualifications:
- Tertiary qualifications in Project Management, Construction Management, Architecture, or Engineering (or a related discipline).

$98,478 - $104,165.00
