We depend on our systems engineers to make sure our complex, long-range projects are the best they can be, from early concept to final delivery.

As a Systems Engineer you will join a highly specialised and collaborative team working to design, develop, integrate and deliver the Submarine Combat Control System to the Royal Australian Navy. As a proactive and collaborative Engineer, you will engage directly with key stakeholders as you work to introduce new technologies and capabilities to Australia's fleet.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and refine product solutions for integration into the combat system.
  • Conduct verification and validation activities, including the creation of test procedures in support of formal and informal test events.
  • Create analysis and performance reports to quantify and qualify testing outcomes and actions to be taken as a result
  • Perform technical risk analysis, facilitate documentation reviews and contribute toward system reviews and stakeholder presentations.
  • Provide engineering support to develop and update product baseline specifications and certifications.
  • Coordinate reviews throughout the lifecycle, including peer reviews, preliminary and detailed design reviews and test readiness reviews.
  • Develop and implement configuration change proposals to support delivery and installation of solutions to platforms
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of modern digital engineering solutions and techniques within a cross-discipline DevSecOps environment
  • Support team members to build skills in systems engineering methodology and the effective use of project management tools and processes

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

  • Degree qualified Engineer with the eligibility to hold Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) and a level of Design Authority delegation to support system certification
  • Ideally 4+ years' experience in Systems Engineering, involving design definition, design development, integration and verification in one or more of the following engineering fields: Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Communication, Software and/or Combat/RF Systems
  • Experience working in agile or waterfall project environments and the ability to work autonomously or with minimal supervision to deliver completed work according to scheduled commitments
  • Excellent communication skills and a demonstrated ability to collaborate with stakeholders at client, peer, supplier, and senior leadership
  • Available to undertake travel where necessary to meet requirements of the role
  • Applicants must be eligible to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance to Negative Vetting 1 level

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience with Naval Weapon System Requirements, Design and Verification
  • Experience working within defence or a highly regulated industry
  • Experience working within an Agile and collaborative DevSecOps team environment
  • Experience with Microsoft and Atlassian tool suites (Teams, JIRA, Confluence, etc)
  • Experience with scientific or engineering documentation and test engineering processes and procedures
  • Experience with Linux operating systems, networking and technical problem solving
