Thomas Global Systems is a leader in the design, manufacture and support of high-integrity aviation and defence electronics, operating out of locations in Sydney, Australia and Irvine, California.

We are now seeking a highly skilled and motivated Systems Engineer to join our dynamic Simulation & Training Solutions

team. In this role, you will provide system-level oversight and guidance to project technical teams, ensuring the delivery of holistic, contextually aware, and verifiable solution architectures for training simulator systems and other emerging systems. You will work closely with in-house and third-party engineers to develop verification evidence, prepare analysis reports, and support system-level accreditation activities. In the near term the role is primarily focused on a key land-based training simulator system in the midst of detailed design.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop and interpret system requirements, specifications, and functional and performance specifications.
  • Design and maintain system architecture through iterative development and formal reviews.
  • Identify, analyze, and mitigate technical risks.
  • Manage integration activities, including developing integration management plans and leading technical demonstrations.
  • Conduct verification and validation (V&V) activities, including developing test procedures and managing accreditation tests.
  • Liaise with quality assurance teams, certifying bodies, and customers to ensure compliance and certified product delivery.
  • Develop and maintain critical project documentation, including requirements specifications, block diagrams, integration plans, and technical manuals.
  • Manage change control processes using tools like Polarion or equivalent.

What you Bring:

  • Tertiary qualification in Electronic Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in developing and integrating systems and complex products.
  • Fluency in the systems engineering process and its application to managing complexity and reducing risk.
  • Experience with V&V of systems and authoring/reviewing technical documentation.
  • Strong customer focus, interpersonal skills, and problem-solving techniques.
  • Familiarity with ISO or equivalent) and requirements management tools like Polarion or DOORS.
  • High level of competence using the MS Office suite for documentation, analysis, and presentation.
  • Eligibility to obtain Australian Defence Clearance.
