Galt Mining Solutions, a growing multi-disciplinary mining and geology consultancy, is currently seeking Senior Field Assistants to join our team. The successful candidates will be based at our Galt Discovery Centre in West Leederville and may have the opportunity to participate in field/mine site-based campaigns at various client projects. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to exciting exploration projects and develop your skills within a supportive and dynamic work environment.

Successful candidates will form part of the Galt Mining Solutions Team and be responsible for logistics management, exploration program planning and contributing to the smooth operation of Galt's processing facility (Core Processing, Cutting and Sampling).

We are looking for proactive members to join our team, who are ready for the next steps in their careers. This position has potential for permanency for the right candidate. Attractive, market-based remuneration will be negotiated and will depend on relevant experience.

Role Responsibilities:

  1. Perform sampling and sample processing of diamond core and RC drilling; collect and operate Magnetic susceptibility, pXRF and mineralogical equipment.
  2. Collect data as required, including GPS, soil sampling, and data entry using automated software systems.
  3. Warehouse Logistics and Management for a dedicated team.
  4. Assist with program planning and logistics (both remote and warehouse/core shed).
  5. If required, set up and take down field camps; perform camp duties and general maintenance.
  6. Maintain a high level of safety on-site; actively contribute to managing a positive safety culture and reporting issues promptly.
  7. Prepare drilling pads; conduct site clean-ups and rehabilitation (monitoring on tablets and Drone footage collection).
  8. Perform equipment and vehicle maintenance.
  9. Assist with training/mentoring team members in field craft.
  10. Collaborate effectively with the exploration and mining teams and assist in day-to-day operations.

Role Requirements:

  1. Previous experience in a similar role - minimum 3-5 years.
  2. Able to pass a medical examination and drug screen.
  3. Possession of a full C-class manual driver's license.
  4. Medium Rigid license - highly desirable.
  5. 4WD Certificate highly regarded; genuine off-road 4WD experience well regarded.
  6. Forklift Ticket - highly desirable
  7. Understanding of computers and software packages (i.e. spreadsheets, documents, phone apps).
  8. Excellent communication skills, timekeeping, and reliability.
  9. Knowledge of sampling systems, including QAQC procedures
