About the Role

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Assistant Accountant holds the required accounting qualifications and has demonstrated experience in providing accounting support and advice within a complex business. Without limiting the generality of the position, duties will include; helping to prepare financial statements, accounts, budgets, month end and year end reporting, processing invoices and trust funds. We are open to part-timers who can work a minimum of 4 days per week.

What You'll Bring

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant practical experience working in accounting, within a complex business structure
  • Experience with Accounting software
  • Excellent knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience working with Trust funds is preferred
  • The ability to produce accurate financial reports
  • Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Discretion as there will likely be sensitive information and figures discussed
  • The ability to work to strict time constraints
  • The ability to prioritise work
  • An organised and methodical approach to a task
  • A permanent visa holder / Australian citizenship

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the Finance Manager in their day-to-day tasks and duties
  • Collaborating with the finance team to work on various accounting projects as required
  • Assisting the Finance Team with monthly and yearly close including performing reconciliations of general ledger accounts
  • Processing payments and invoices accurately and within expected time periods
  • Verifying financial statements, ledgers and accounts and making corrections where appropriate
  • Assisting with the Preparation of profit and loss reports and supporting documentation
  • Creating Trust fund payments and transfers
  • Provide support and advice to team members around financial requirements and processes, actioning staff enquiries in a timely and accurate manner
  • Assisting with the yearly financial budget process
  • Reconcile monthly credit card statements and transactions
  • Taking minutes in meetings and other administrative duties (as appropriate)
