About us:
Established in 2007, CDC Data Centres is Australia's leading operator of sovereign, secure, world-class data centre facilities.
Headquartered in Canberra with multiple facilities in the ACT, NSW, VIC and New Zealand, CDC's diversified operations provide secure data centre configurations that support co-location, supercomputing and hyperscale environments with all campuses interconnected with high-speed carrier grade networks.
At CDC we are passionate about creating an inclusive workplace that promotes and values diversity. We believe that everyone's unique experiences enable us to deliver meaningful benefits for our people, our clients and communities. Our mission is to attract, retain and grow the world's best data centre team.
Our people are responsive, innovative and trusted in supporting our customers. Together, we configure the landscape to meet the security, reliability, connectivity and sustainability needs for today and tomorrow.
About the role:
In this role, you'll be part of a dedicated HSE team focused on driving health, safety, and environmental excellence across the organisation. The team is responsible for developing and implementing policies that ensure a safe, compliant workplace while fostering a culture of safety. You'll conduct risk assessments, ensure regulatory compliance, and lead training initiatives to raise awareness.
The team also monitors safety performance, investigates incidents, and leads emergency responses to protect employees and the environment. Together, we focus on continuous improvement, managing HSE practices, maintaining records, and identifying risks to ensure a safe and sustainable workplace.
Other responsibilities include:
- Develop, update, and implement HSE policies and procedures in line with legal requirements and industry standards.
- Identify and mitigate risks, ensuring effective emergency preparedness and response plans.
- Deliver training programs to educate employees on safety practices, emergency procedures, and environmental responsibilities, promoting a strong safety culture.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections for both CDC employees and contractors, identifying areas for improvement.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, determining root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and safety laws, staying up to date with legislative changes.
- Manage safety records and tools, supporting performance monitoring against ISO14001 and ISO45001.
- Lead emergency response efforts, minimising health, safety, and environmental impacts during major incidents or crises.
About you:
The right person for this role is passionate about people and driven by the challenge of creating a strong, positive safety culture. You understand what shapes workplace behaviours and know how to influence and inspire teams to prioritise health, safety, and the environment. With experience rolling out impactful safety campaigns in complex, high-risk environments, you bring creativity, fresh ideas, and the confidence to spark meaningful change.
We're looking for someone passionate about leading change — someone who thrives on collaboration, innovation, and enhancing our safety culture as we grow.
- Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Trade, Engineering, or a related field.
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems.
- Experience using HSE management software and tools for data collection and analysis.
Essential:
- Australian Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a NV1 Security Clearance.
