Recovery Support Worker

You'll walk beside our residents as they grow in confidence and work towards improved mental wellbeing, so experience in the mental health space is super important – whether that's through previous roles or relevant studies. You'll offer practical, consistent, and person-centred support as residents work toward stability, independence, and renewed confidence.
From supporting with healthy routines and goal setting to helping with day to day living skills and linking in with key services. Your role is hands on, meaningful, and full of variety.
You'll be the kind of steady presence that tracks progress, celebrates the wins (big and small) and brings calm, empathy, and encouragement to every step of the recovery journey.
A day on the job will see you:
- Develop and adapt individual support plans, utilising recovery-oriented and trauma informed principles.
- Work alongside clients to help them achieve their personal goals – celebrating progress and building confidence along the way.
- Coach our clients to build their capacity to live independently, participating in community activities and making informed decisions.
- Support medication management through an adult to adult model
- Maintain clear, accurate case notes.
- Take part in a weekly sleepover shift – this is a core part of the role and helps provide a consistent presence.
Your application will go to the top of our shortlist you have:
- Hold a minimum of a Certificate III in Mental Health or Community Services. Or you are working toward a Psychology or Social Work degree (and you've done a field placement).
- Previous experience, specifically in mental health or community services, will help you hit the ground running.
- A strong understanding of recovery-focused, trauma-informed, and wellness-based approaches to your work.
- Sound communication with a collaborative working approach to resolve client issues.
- Demonstrated experience working with clients with unique needs.
- Exceptional computer literacy with exceptional record keeping skills.
- If you are a LARU Approved Supervisor and you happen to have a recent Police Clearance, you will probably be one of our favourites

About Us
For 60 years, St Bart's has supported people experiencing homelessness and severe and persistent mental health issues as they rebuild their lives. We started as a small homeless shelter for men and have grown into a progressive and inclusive organisation providing support to hundreds of Western Australian men, women and families across four key service areas. Our goal is to provide safe, supported accommodation and services to people who need it the most, regardless of background, age, gender or ethnicity.
