About the Role

Are you an experienced bookkeeper who loves structure, autonomy, and getting the details right?

Copia Business Services is seeking a Senior Bookkeeper to join our remote team — someone confident in managing complex bookkeeping and payroll, mentoring juniors, and improving systems and efficiencies.

This casual role (10–15 hrs/week to start) offers growth to 25–30+ hrs/week and potential for permanent part-time. Enjoy meaningful, flexible work—without losing your evenings or weekends.

Copia Business Services is a Sydney-based, fully remote bookkeeping and BAS practice.

We help small and medium businesses gain clarity, compliance, and confidence in their finances.

You'll join a supportive, female-led team that values initiative, integrity, and communication. Strong systems, structured onboarding, and collaborative support mean you can work independently while feeling part of a close-knit group.

What You'll Do
  • Manage end-to-end bookkeeping for multiple clients in Xero
  • Process and oversee payroll (multi-state), super, and workers' comp compliance
  • Liaise with clients, accountants, and agencies
  • Review and mentor junior team members
  • Identify process improvements and deliver accurate, timely reports
What We're Looking For

Technical & Compliance

  • Strong hands-on Xero skills (including Payroll, AP/AR, and reporting)
  • Excellent grasp of bookkeeping, BAS, payroll tax, and super requirements
  • Experience with DEXT and Excel (pivot tables, lookups)

Client & Team

  • Confident communicator with clients and colleagues
  • Professional, proactive, and reliable
  • Experienced mentor comfortable managing shifting priorities

Mindset & Work Habits

  • Problem-solver who enjoys improving systems
  • Organised, self-motivated, and remote-ready
  • Dedicated home office with dual screens and fast internet

Bonus Points For

  • HR or payroll compliance experience
  • Familiarity with KeyPay
  • Cert IV Bookkeeping or higher, Xero certification, or BAS Agent registration
