Workfast is seeking a Mechanical Fitter for a client based in Bassendean, WA.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading heavy industry and rail services provider, working in a modern workshop with strong safety and quality standards. This role will see you disassembling, inspecting, and assembling a variety of locomotive and HME components in a precision workshop environment. You'll be hands-on with everything from wheel motors and alternators to traction motors and blower fans, ensuring all work meets the highest quality and safety standards.

What You Get

  • $57.37 per hour + penalties
  • Monday to Friday shifts with occasional afternoons

    Dayshift - Monday to Friday - 6.00am - 2.30pmAfternoon shift - Monday to Thursday 1.30pm pm & Friday 1.30pm - 7.30pm
  • Ongoing training and development provided
  • Work with a leading heavy industry and rail contractor
  • Immediate Start

What You Need

  • Australian Driver's Licence
  • White Card
  • Relevant AUSTRALIAN Trade Qualification - Mechanical Fitter, Mechanical Machine Repair, or equivalent
  • Experience overhauling AC and DC traction motors, alternators, or rotating equipment
  • Strong mechanical and electrical experience
  • High level of measuring and inspection skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to use iPads or digital systems to manage job progression
  • Strong communication skills and team-focused attitude

What You'll Be Doing

  • Disassemble, inspect, and requalify locomotive and HME components (wheel motors, alternators, traction motors, blowers, radiators, etc.)
  • Measure, inspect, and record critical journals, bores, bearings, and pinions
  • Prepare, assemble, and install components including bearings and subassemblies
  • Conduct quality checks throughout the assembly process
  • Use iPads to track workflow and job progress
  • Participate actively in Lean manufacturing practices and continuous improvement
  • Maintain safe work practices at all times
