About your new role:

Due to continued growth within our business, we are seeking an experienced workshop based Fitter/Machinist to join our high performing team in Devonport.

Within this role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Performing allocated work to the required standards within agreed timeframes;
  • Reading and interpreting job specifications, technical drawings and schematics;
  • Operating heavy machinery, hand tools and lifting equipment etc;
  • Making sketches or manufacturing parts to drawings;
  • Maintaining equipment, tools and work area to a high standard;
  • Maintaining documentation and service records as per procedure;
  • Directing and mentoring apprentices where required;
  • General mechanical fitting work as required; and
  • Performing work safely and comply with WHS procedures.
  • Repairs and reconditioning of hydraulic cylinders used in a variety of applications;
  • Disassembly, inspection, measuring and reporting on components;
  • Assembly and testing of cylinders; Maintaining documentation and service records as per procedure
What you need to succeed:
  • Relevant Trade Qualifications: Machinist or First-Class Machinist;
  • Experience working within a workshop environment and knowledge of machining procedures;
  • Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and engineering drawings;
  • Experience operating manual lathe and milling machines;
  • Work to fine tolerances with speed, accuracy and attention to detail;
  • Proficient with Internal and external screw cutting, boring and grooving;
  • Experience in machining a broad range of materials;
  • Forklift ticket and MIG welding experience (desirable);
  • Effective communication, time management and organisational skills; and
  • Valid driver's licence, own transport and a demonstrated safety first mindset.
