We are on an exciting transformational journey to drive significant growth, and to support this, we are seeking a skilled Hydraulic Fitter / Machinist to join our Devonport team.
Your Role
In this role you will plan machining requirements, interpret technical drawings, and operate lathes, mills, presses and other workshop equipment to produce precision parts. You will assemble, install, test and repair hydraulic and mechanical components while also carrying out maintenance activities to ensure reliable and efficient operation of machines and tools.
You will also be responsible for maintaining equipment, ensuring work areas remain clean and organised, and collaborating with management, production and quality teams to resolve technical challenges. The position also involves providing technical support to colleagues and stakeholders, along with undertaking hand fitting, welding if qualified, general workshop duties and other tasks as directed by management.
Key Responsibilities
Planning machining requirements by reviewing work orders and technical drawings
Setting up and operating lathes, mills and other machinery to produce precision parts to specification
Monitoring operations, identifying faults or out-of-tolerance machining and making adjustments as required
Maintaining and servicing machines, tools and equipment through cleaning, lubrication and preventative maintenance
Carrying out hand-fitting tasks such as filing and undertaking welding duties if qualified
Performing factory and machine maintenance functions as needed
Working with management, production and quality teams to resolve technical or production issues
Skills and Attributes
Holding trade qualifications as a diesel fitter, mechanic or hydraulics fitter
Bringing 5+ years' experience in a similar role
Demonstrating strong skills in machining, hydraulics, precision measuring instruments and interpreting engineering drawings
Showing proven problem-solving ability, technical expertise and commitment to high-quality workmanship
Working effectively both independently and as part of a team, with strong organisational and communication skills
Building and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders while delivering excellent customer service
