About the Role

As a Kitchen Hand at Sheldon College, you will play an important role in supporting our busy College kitchen. Key responsibilities include:

  • Washing and sanitising dishes, utensils, and equipment.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised kitchen environment.
  • Assisting with general cleaning and tidying tasks as required.
  • Supporting the catering team during daily service and special events.
  • Taking on additional shifts for College functions and events when available.

This position offers approximately 13+ hours per fortnight, with opportunities for extra hours during peak periods.

About you

You're someone who enjoys working in a busy kitchen environment and takes pride in preparing healthy, tasty meals for young students. You're organised, reliable and have a genuine care for the wellbeing of children. You'll thrive in a team setting but can also work independently to get things done.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Experience in food preparation, ideally within a school, childcare, or café environment.
  • A current Food Safety Handling Certification.
  • Basic computer skills, including email and point-of-sale systems.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
  • A keen eye for detail, with high standards for presentation, hygiene, and quality.
  • A friendly, approachable nature and the ability to build positive relationships with staff, students, and parents.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Queensland Blue Card (Working with Children Check).
