About the Role

At MVP Ventures, we are building and scaling ventures powered by AI across multiple industries — from healthcare, transport, manufacturing, education, professional services to enterprise productivity and beyond. We are seeking an Applied Data Scientist & ML engineer with expertise in large language models (LLMs), generative AI, and applied machine learning. You will focus on fine-tuning and adapting open-source LLMs, designing retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines, and collaborating with product teams to tailor AI models for diverse domains for their use in Gen AI Applications and Agentic platforms. This role emphasises dataset preparation, LLM fine-tuning, and applied research, while working closely with infrastructure teams for scaling, and deployment of Gen AI solutions.

Responsibilities

● LLM Fine-Tuning & Adaptation

○ Prepare and curate domain-specific datasets across healthcare, education, enterprise, and other verticals.

○ Conduct fine-tuning experiments using LoRA/QLoRA and parameter-efficient methods (PEFT,

Hugging Face Transformers).

○ Explore instruction tuning, domain adaptation, and prompt optimization techniques.

○ Evaluate tuned models on accuracy, hallucination reduction, safety, and domain reliability.

○ Collaborate with Infrastructure Engineers to scale fine-tuning experiments into production-ready models.

● Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)

○ Build and test RAG pipelines with vector databases (FAISS, Pinecone, pgvector, Weaviate).

○ Integrate vetted knowledge sources and evaluate grounding quality and faithfulness.

● Applied Data Science & Research

○ Lead ETL, preprocessing, and feature engineering for diverse datasets.

○ Design evaluation frameworks for LLMs across multiple domains.

○ Document methodologies and publish or share research insights.

● Cross-Venture Collaboration

○ Become an integral part of product and AI solutions and aI agents teams across MVP Ventures to prototype and validate AI use cases.

○ Translate business problems into AI/ML solutions.

○ Provide expertise in prompt engineering, safety evaluation, and responsible AI use.

Qualifications

● Strong background in machine learning / NLP, with hands-on experience in generative AI and LLM applications.

● Proficient in Python, PyTorch, Hugging Face Transformers, PEFT, LangChain.

● Experience with fine-tuning ML/LLM models (LoRA/QLoRA, instruction-tuning, boosting models, CNNs).

● Familiarity with cloud ML workflows (AWS SageMaker, Bedrock, or Azure AI).

● Experience with vector databases and RAG pipelines.

● Strong ability to collaborate across multiple industries and adapt models to new domains.

● Masters in Data Science, Machine Learning, or related field (Ph.D. a plus).

Nice to Have

● Experience with evaluation benchmarks for LLMs (hallucination, grounding, factuality).

● Knowledge of data compliance and security practices across industries.

● Publications or demonstrated thought leadership in AI/ML.

● Familiarity with multi-modal AI (vision + text, tabular + text, etc.).
