What you'll be doing:

Lead the financial accounting function, including the preparation of annual financial statements and ensuring effective financial management and governance frameworks are in place, to support transparency, accountability, compliance and informed financial decision-making across the organisation.

The successful candidate will be a CPA or CA-qualified accounting professional with substantial experience in financial accounting leadership within a complex organisation. You will bring expertise in statutory reporting, internal controls, taxation, and compliance, coupled with a strong track record of leading high-performing teams. Exceptional stakeholder engagement, change management, and problem-solving skills are essential, alongside the ability to interpret and apply relevant accounting standards and legislation. A collaborative, results-oriented approach and the capacity to drive continuous improvement will be key to success in this role.

To thrive in this role, you will have:

  • A Degree or Graduate Certificate in a relevant discipline (e.g. Accounting, Financial Management, Economics, Mathematics, ICT);
  • Current full membership of a professional accounting body; and
  • Proficiency in statutory accounting
  • Proficiency in creating financial accounts in the public sector
  • An understanding of the mechanics of the public sector
  • Managerial experience of high-achieving staff
  • During periods of major operational activity, the incumbent may be required to support operational management activities consistent with their skills and background
