The Opportunity
Our client is a respected financial services business with a strong reputation for innovation and customer focus. Known for its collaborative culture and commitment to continuous improvement, the business is seeking an experienced Accountant to join their high-performing finance team on a 6-month contract commencing mid-November, with a potential for extension or being made permanent.
This position will suit an adaptable and technically strong accountant who enjoys variety and thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The role offers broad exposure across month-end, reporting, analysis, audit support, and process improvement.
The Challenge
Reporting to the Financial Controller, your key responsibilities will include:
- Managing month-end close, journals, reconciliations, and preparation of financial statements
- Delivering accurate and timely management reports for senior stakeholders
- Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis across key business areas
- Monitoring clearing accounts and maintaining strong balance sheet controls
- Liaising with internal and external auditors, preparing year-end audit files and documentation
- Partnering with finance and operational teams to provide insights on performance and cost drivers
- Identifying and implementing process and systems improvements to enhance reporting efficiency
- Assisting with ad hoc projects, documentation updates, and finance transformation initiatives
The Expertise
You should consider applying if you have:
- CA qualification and 4+ years' experience across financial control, management accounting, or audit (not suited to those with purely external audit backgrounds)
- Proven technical skills in month-end processes, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and present insights clearly
- Strong written documentation and stakeholder communication skills
- Ability to adapt across multiple finance functions and work autonomously when required
- Experience within financial services, lending, or banking environments will be highly regarded
- Full Australian working rights (visa holders cannot be considered)
