Permit to Work Specialist

As a Permit to Work Specialist, you'll play a critical role in ensuring operational excellence and safety across our sites. In this position, you'll be at the heart of our Works Management team, supporting the permit to work system through training, administration, and continuous improvement. You'll work closely with internal teams and external providers to keep our systems running smoothly, while driving best practices that protect our people and assets. Your expertise will help us maintain the highest standards of safety and efficiency in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Deliver training on the permit to work system (SAP) and provide user support when needed.
• Maintain and update permit to work training materials to ensure accuracy and relevance.
• Act as system administrator for SAP WCM, including user setup and configuration changes.
• Lead investigations into permit to work related incidents and recommend improvements.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external providers to resolve system issues and implement updates.
• Support the Works Management Manager with permit to work procedures and other related tasks.
• Monitor compliance and drive consistent application of the permit to work system.
• Travel to site as required and work flexibly to meet business needs.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have the following skills and experience:

• Mechanical or electrical trade qualifications are preferred but not essential.
• Extensive experience and understanding of permit to work systems or other similar systems.
• Experience in system administration and delivery of system training.
• Experience within the heavy engineering industry (power generation industry would be advantageous).
• The ability to work autonomously and within a team to meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills written and verbal.
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships and influence others.
• Excellent planning and organisation skills, with attention to detail.
• Ability to learn new systems and provide training and other support.
