About the opportunity:
The supportive housing model is centred on strengthening individuals and communities by developing sustainable and affordable housing. Viv's Place brings people together in a managed building, which includes a ground floor community space including a trauma informed design with communal kitchen, dining and living spaces, children's play areas, medical suites, consulting rooms and office space. An essential element to the project is creating an environment where there is both the perception and reality of safety.
Supportive housing is accepted as being a model through which people have safety from interference, exploitation or violence from outsiders. This is particularly pertinent with the target group being women and children who have experienced homelessness, especially as a result of family violence.
Controlled access to enter the premises is a fundamental component. Controlled access is underpinned by the Resident Engagement Officer (REO) at the point of entry. The REO will welcome residents, their visitors and people delivering programs and services, and ensure that unwelcome visitors cannot access the environment.
The REO will be required to form excellent rapport and maintain relationships with both residents and the people who are supporting them.
This is a permanent full-time role based at Dandenong, open to external and internal candidates.
As part of our commitment to increasing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment, Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander candidates will be given priority consideration. All other candidates are welcome to apply. This approach is a special measure under section 12 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 (Vic), designed to promote substantive equality.
