The Role
Join Solvd's Fleet team and help some of Australia's largest businesses get back on the road after an accident. We manage the full claims lifecycle; from lodgement to repair, replacement, settlement, and recovery, delivering fast, fair, and compliant outcomes.
As a Motor Claims Consultant – Settlements, you'll be at the centre of the action, using your technical expertise to assess and negotiate motor claim settlements with confidence and precision. You'll interpret policy wording, determine liability, and balance client expectations to deliver accurate, empathetic resolutions.
This role calls for someone who's proactive and solutions-focused, with the ability to anticipate issues before they arise and keep claims moving smoothly. You'll need to be highly organised, managing multiple priorities without compromising on detail or quality. And when faced with demanding clients or complex scenarios, you'll bring professionalism, resilience, and empathy to every interaction, building trust and delivering a consistently positive experience.
What you'll be doing
- Assess and manage fleet motor claims for self-insured and high-excess clients, using your technical expertise to determine liability and settlement strategy
- Negotiate settlements with insurers, third parties, and their representatives to achieve fair and timely outcomes
- Ensure settlement processes meet compliance, contractual, and client requirements
- Communicate clearly and professionally with fleet clients, keeping everyone informed and aligned
- Apply insurance policy wording and industry practices to guide accurate settlement decisions
- Maintain detailed documentation and support continuous improvement of settlement processes
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to keep claims running smoothly
- Monitor claims against service level agreements and escalate when needed
- Help your team hit daily service standards and performance targets
- Join training sessions and team meetings to keep learning and growing
- Pitch in on projects and tasks that support broader team and business goals
What we're looking for
- 2+ years' experience in a similar role within insurance or a related field such as banking, superannuation, or legal
- Solid understanding of motor claims and settlements (a big plus)
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with a calm and professional approach
- Proven negotiation ability and a customer-first mindset, even in complex situations
- Highly organised and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple claims at once
- A proactive mindset: you don't wait to be asked, you take initiative and drive things forward
- Resilience and adaptability when working with demanding clients or sensitive claims
- A collaborative team player who brings positivity and supports continuous improvement
- Confident using MS Office, systems, and digital tools to manage workflows
- Familiarity with insurance legislation and the General Insurance Code of Practice (advantageous)
- Relevant certifications (e.g. General Insurance, Insurance Contracts Act) are a bonus
What's in It for you
- Flexible working arrangements, including hybrid work options; we offer a hybrid working model, with 2 to 3 days per week in our Melbourne CBD office.
- To support your onboarding, the initial 3-4 weeks of training will be delivered fully on-site in our Melbourne CBD office.
- Reward and recognition programs, ongoing training, and career development support
- Paid parental leave and additional leave options
- Access to health and financial wellbeing support
- A range of employee perks and discounts on everyday essentials
- A collaborative team environment
