About Us
Greater Shepparton Lighthouse is a community movement dedicated to improving the wellbeing and educational outcomes of children and young people, from conception to career. Since 2014, we've brought together hundreds of local people, services and partners to make sure every child has the chance to reach their full potential.
Our Family Haven in Mooroopna is a welcoming drop-in space for families with young children, offering unstructured play, daily meals, early intervention supports, and access to material aid and referrals. It's a place built on connection, compassion and community.
About the Role
As an Early Years Support Worker, you'll be part of the daily rhythm of the Family Haven, supporting children, families, and volunteers to feel safe, welcome and engaged.
No two days are the same, and your ability to adapt, connect and support will help shape meaningful experiences for families.
Your day may include:
Assisting with daily activities, play-based engagement and general site operations
Supporting and coordinating volunteers
Helping prepare and serve a nutritious community meal
Ensuring safe food handling and hygiene practices
Assisting with material aid distribution
Building relationships with families and linking them to appropriate supports
Contributing to a warm, inclusive and trauma-informed environment
Who We're Looking For
You're someone who brings kindness, initiative and a genuine passion for supporting children and families. You are approachable, community-minded and comfortable working in a dynamic setting where flexibility is key.
You'll thrive in this role if you have:
Experience or interest in early childhood development
Strong people skills and the ability to engage with families from diverse backgrounds
Experience managing risk and supervising children and adults
An understanding of trauma-informed and strength-based approaches
The ability to work collaboratively within a small, supportive team
Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office)
Requirements
National Police Check
Employee Working With Children Check
Victorian Driver Licence
Ability to safely lift up to 10kg and perform physical tasks as required
