Early Learning Victoria's central office is part the Victorian Department of Education. The central team is leading the roll-out of the 50 centres and will support and oversee centre operations once they open.

Location Profile

Pedagogy & Practice Advisor - Early Learning Victoria Regional North

Salary Band - $130,673 - $150,833

The Pedagogy and Practice Advisor will service the Regional North centres, including the newly opened Eaglehawk location in 2025, as well as three new centres in Numurkah, Shepparton & Wedderburn opening in 2026. The incumbent will primarily service the regional north region, however there may also be a requirement to travel to Melbourne CBD.

About the role

The Pedagogy and Practice Advisor is an area-based role and is responsible for supporting quality improvement through working with centre leadership teams to build knowledge, skills and capabilities of centre teams. This role will ensure that programs are aligned with the National Quality Framework, the Child Safe Standards and contemporary research.  This role will be responsible for delivering key organisational, pedagogical and inclusion priorities within a local context to develop comprehensive educational practices across the centres.

Key responsibilities:

  • Supporting centre teams meet regulatory requirements, continuous improvement and readiness for internal and external quality assessments.

  • Working closely with the central Pedagogy and Practice Team and Area Manager to ensure consistency of advice across NQS Quality Areas and Early Learning Victoria's practice guide, policies and procedures.

  • Identifying opportunities for ongoing improvements to support the quality and compliance of Early Learning Victoria at both an organisation and centre level

  • Supporting the development of, and facilitating professional learning, networks and communities of practice between centres, ensuring a culture of critical reflection and continuous improvement is established and maintained.

  • Developing stakeholder relationships with relevant external and government departments to ensure accuracy, alignment and consistency of information.

Experience required will include

The successful candidate will demonstrate experience and ability in:

  • Mentoring, coaching and working with centre-based teams to ensure high quality practices are adopted and maintained

  • Comprehensive knowledge of contemporary pedagogy and inclusion practices and the ability to translate this for a range of educators and audiences

  • Planning and managing timeframes, understanding the political and organisational environment

  • Collaborating and building relationships with a range of different stakeholders

  • Recent practice and leadership experience within the early childhood education system

  • Understanding of the early childhood sector at a provider level is highly regarded

Specific skills/qualifications required

  • Relevant early childhood qualification, bachelor's degree highly desirable

  • Current 'Employee' Working with Children's Check

  • Willingness to consent to a National Police Check (to be arranged by Early Learning Victoria)

  • International Police Check required if resided outside of Australia for 12 months or more during the last 10 years
