About the role
This position is responsible for providing leadership and management with Council's Catchment Management section, which includes but is not limited to capital, operational & maintenance of Council's stormwater drainage infrastructure, participation in various relevant committees and preparation of required reports and budgets.
On a daily basis you will:
- Provide professional, specialist technical and paralegal advice and guidance on flood and drainage engineering matters to the organization and external customers (public, developers, consultants etc.)
- Provide professional and specialist technical advice and guidance on various planning instruments, guidelines, Flood DCP, Water Management DCP, Strategies / Studies / Policies relating to floodplain, estuarine, stormwater and water quality matters.
- Manage Council's flood mitigation assets (basins & levees) and Prescribed Dam Structures.
- Manage the Drainage Construction, Flood Mitigation and Drainage Renewal Programs
- Manage the Catchment Management team, which involves the development of the strategic direction and long-term planning of Council's stormwater drainage and flood mitigation assets, including flood risk studies and plans.
- Manage investigation and design for a diverse range of projects and multi-disciplinary project teams.
About You
The successful candidate should have at least 10 years' experience in stormwater/flood engineering including design and construction and asset management.
You will also bring:
- Proven asset management and project management experience.
- Demonstrated experience in managing the needs of multiple stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience in leading, developing, managing and contributing to strategic, complex, diverse, sensitive projects.
- Experience in working within one or more levels of government.
- High-level experience in working to tight deadlines in a changing, complex and flexible work environment.
- Operate DRAINS, HECRas and XPRafts software at an intermediate level.
- Operate RatHGIL, ArcMap GIS, MIKE 11/21, TUFLOW, MUSIC models & AutoCAD drafting software at a basic level.
Qualifications
- Degree in Civil Engineering / Water Engineering from a recognised tertiary institution.
- Class 'C' Driver's Licence.

This role will be at Council's Operations Centre based at Rydalmere, with free onsite parking available.
We are offering an attractive remuneration from $ $146,512.94 plus 12% superannuation.
