Cyber Security Engineer
Location: Canberra
Security Clearance: NV1
Contract: 12 months with 2 x 12-month extension options

Overview
In this leadership role, you'll be instrumental in driving technical improvements aimed at stabilising and uplifting the security posture of our existing environment. As a key member of the Cyber Sustainment Section, you'll support multiple platforms and infrastructure, ensuring the seamless operation of critical IT systems while implementing new security measures. Your expertise will influence the success of current initiatives and future projects, helping CRB maintain a secure, resilient digital landscape.

Required Skills

  • Extensive experience with Application Control systems and policies
  • Proficiency in Vulnerability Scanning Platform support and management
  • Strong background in Linux Infrastructure Support
  • Expertise in Privileged Access Management (PAM) solutions
  • Knowledge of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) Certificate Management
  • Demonstrated ability to support multiple cybersecurity tools, systems, and processes
  • Proven track record of leading or contributing to large-scale cyber security projects
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams

Nice to Have Skills

  • Experience with threat intelligence and incident response
  • Familiarity with cloud security platforms and services
  • Knowledge of security compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST, or similar
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or Security+
  • Experience in a government or highly regulated environment

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of professional cybersecurity experience, with significant time spent in technical leadership roles

Other Requirements

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to evolving priorities
  • Willingness to undertake occasional travel as required
