As an Apprentice Electrician with Queensland Rail based at our Gracemere Depot, you'll contribute to our proud legacy and help us build an even brighter, more sustainable future – and that means incredible things for your career.

In this hands-on role, you'll assist with electrical maintenance and repair tasks on rollingstock to support the safe and reliable operation of our regional fleet. You'll work alongside qualified tradespeople, gaining practical experience across a variety of systems and equipment that are critical to keeping our trains running. From fault finding and preventative maintenance to supporting larger overhauls, you'll be developing the technical skills and safety mindset needed for a successful career in the rail industry.

Our Apprentice Opportunities

In this apprenticeship you will 

  • Assist with electrical maintenance and repair tasks on rollingstock to support regional operations.
  • Travel to various rail locations as required to support regional rollingstock maintenance activities.
  • Work predominantly afternoon, night, and weekend shifts as part of the maintenance schedule.
  • Undertake structured training and development to become a qualified Electrical Maintainer, increasing skill base capacity.
  • Support effective maintenance and repair of the Rockhampton Tilt Train to ensure safe and reliable operations.
  • Follow all workplace health and safety procedures, ensuring compliance with rail safety standards.
  • Work collaboratively with qualified maintainers and the wider team to achieve maintenance goals.

As an Apprentice you will have

  • A genuine interest in gaininig an electrical trade with a willingness to learn and develop other trade skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to working safely and following instructions.
  • Reliable, motivated, and able to work effectively both in a team and independently.
