We are excited to introduce a new position within our Recruit Curtin team: the Disability Employment and Careers Project Officer. This role will take the lead in designing and delivering initiatives that support students and graduates with disability to achieve their career aspirations.
Working in close collaboration with GradWISE, AccessAbility, industry partners, and advocacy organisations, you will help shape inclusive employment opportunities, contribute to Curtin's Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (DAIP) 2022–2030, and create programs that have a lasting impact beyond
What you'll be doing
In this role, you will:
- Lead the design, implementation and evaluation of employability initiatives tailored for students with disability.
- Collaborate with internal colleagues across Student Success, AccessAbility, and Faculties to ensure alignment and accessibility of programs.
- Build and maintain partnerships with employers, government agencies, and advocacy organisations to create inclusive employment opportunities.
- Provide individualised career advice and connect students with resources and services to support their transition to work.
- Conduct project research, prepare business cases, and coordinate project planning, timelines and evaluation frameworks.
- Monitor, evaluate and report on student engagement, outcomes, and program effectiveness.
About you
We are seeking a proactive and empathetic professional who is passionate about equity and inclusion. To be successful, you will bring:
- A relevant qualification in education, human resources, social work, disability studies or a related field, and/or an equivalent combination of relevant experience/ training.
- Strong relationship management and networking skills, with the ability to collaborate across students, staff, employers and advocacy groups.
- An understanding of issues facing students with disability and those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, especially in relation to accessing employment.
- Knowledge of the National Standard for Disability Services and the ability to apply relevant legislation and policy in practice.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with cultural sensitivity and the ability to adapt for diverse audiences.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, priorities and deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team, respecting differences and supporting group goals.
- Research and analytical skills to inform evidence-based initiatives.
Desirable experience:
- Working in a similar role within the higher education sector.
- Knowledge of graduate recruitment processes and inclusive employment trends.
- Experience in disability employment or within the disability sector.
Role Requirements:
- This role is being offered on a 0.5FTE part-time basis. Flexible rostered days are available; however working days over Monday-Wednesday are preferred.
- You will require work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role to be considered
- Successful applicants are subject to a National Police Clearance, and background, integrity, and reference checks to Curtin's satisfaction
