About Us
Apate.AI is an innovative cybersecurity start-up at the forefront of scam prevention. We craft advanced conversational AI to create a safer digital world. A spin-out from Macquarie University, we are a mission-driven team of researchers and engineers who partner with telcos, financial institutions, and law enforcement to proactively disrupt fraud. At our core, we believe in using cutting-edge technology to solve complex, human-centric problems.
You will be joining a passionate founding team and will work directly with our founders, lead researchers, and a dedicated team of engineers and designers to shape the products that protect people from scams.
About the Role
As a Product Manager at Apate.AI, you will be the central nervous system of our product development efforts. You will sit at the critical intersection of our research, engineering, design, and go-to-market strategy. Your role is to be the voice of our users and partners, translating their complex needs into a clear, prioritised roadmap that drives the development of our revolutionary anti-scam solutions. This is a high-impact role for someone who wants to take ownership and build products that have a tangible, positive impact on society.
About you
You are a natural problem-solver, deeply curious, and obsessed with the user experience. Your technical background allows you to communicate effectively with world-class engineers and researchers, while your product sense enables you to chart a course through a rapidly evolving landscape. You thrive in a high-agency, collaborative environment where you can experiment, learn, and iterate quickly. More than anything, you are driven by a passion for solving meaningful, real-world problems and have a deep sense of empathy for the victims of fraud.
Responsibilities
- Develop Deep Insight: Build and maintain a profound understanding of our users, partners (telcos, banks, law enforcement), market trends, and the tactics of malicious actors to inform every product decision.
- Own the Product Roadmap: Define the 'why,' 'what,' and 'when' for the product. Develop, manage, and communicate a clear product roadmap that aligns with company goals.
- Lead Cross-Functional Teams: Collaborate closely with engineering, research, and design teams to define product requirements, prioritize features, and ensure smooth execution from concept to launch.
- Champion the User Experience: Work hand-in-hand with our UX/UI designers to develop and refine product features that are powerful, intuitive, and accessible.
- Embrace Data-Driven Decisions: Analyze product data, user feedback, and intelligence gathered from scammer interactions to identify opportunities, measure success, and guide the product's evolution.
- Define Success: Clearly articulate and measure the key metrics that define success for our products, ensuring they deliver value to both our users and the business.
Required Experience
- 3+ years of product management experience, preferably in a SaaS or technology-driven environment.
- A technical background (e.g., a computer science degree or equivalent experience) allowing you to earn credibility with and effectively guide engineers and researchers.
- A proven track record of launching and iterating on products, demonstrating an ability to drive user adoption and tangible impact.
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate a clear vision and work effectively in a fast-paced, agile environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience using data to drive insights and make informed decisions.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies and leading development teams..
Preferred Experience
- Direct experience in cybersecurity, anti-fraud, trust & safety, or a related field.
- Experience working on AI/ML-powered products.
- Prior experience in a startup environment is a significant plus.
- Familiarity with cloud technologies (Azure or AWS).
- Knowledge of product analytics and user behaviour tools.
- A strong understanding of human-centered design principles.
Why Join Us?
- Be part of a mission-driven team tackling global scam and fraud challenges
- Work on technically interesting problems with modern frameworks and cloud platforms
- Flexible work arrangements (hybrid or remote)
- Opportunity to contribute to real-world impact in collaboration with industry and law enforcement
- Zero bureaucracy, real impact
- Work directly with founders and researchers from day one
