Primary objective
Supports and provides collaborative, appropriate, proficient, coordinated direct and indirect clinical care for complex client presentations, including
working with and alongside less experienced nursing and midwifery staff, within the specialty area.
Context statement
The MRaCC Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) performs a critical care telehealth role, facilitating prompt and appropriate care for patients situated in
remote and isolated areas within Central Australia and Barkly regions within the Medical Retrieval and Consultation Centre (MRaCC)
Conducting telehealth triage the MRaCC CNS identifies critical and urgent cases for escalation to medical attention. Additionally, the CNS provides
coordination and support for intra-hospital transfers, road rendezvous,NT logistics, non-urgent patient escorts and delivers education to remote
clinicians.
Key duties and responsibilities

management of the team.
3. Accountable for providing sound professional advice and for assessment, planning, review, evaluation and coordination of comprehensive
client care and/or case management within the speciality area.

5. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to
ensure high quality, safe services, and workplaces.

Selection criteria
Essential
1. Current registration with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia or eligible for same.
2. Demonstrated highly developed clinical knowledge and skills in a relevant area of nursing/midwifery relating to this vacancy, supporting well
developed clinical decision-making and problem solving to achieve best practice healthcare outcomes.
3. Demonstrate and promote a learning environment through clinical support, instruction, and feedback including mentoring students, graduates,
and less experienced staff across the multidisciplinary team.
4. Experience contributing to the development and implementation of local/regional policy, including interpreting established professional
precedents and organisational policies and supporting change management.
5. Demonstrated use of effective communication skills to influence and convince staff and/or clients, including on sensitive matters requiring
tact and diplomacy.
- Demonstrates well-developed knowledge and understanding of the social and cultural issues, influences and sensitivities that influence health
care provision for clients and families.

1. Graduate Certificate beyond entry-to-practice relevant to specialty area.
