Empower lives. Support resilience. Make a difference. Join a passionate and professional team dedicated to improving mental health outcomes for Australia's veteran and defence communities. As an APS 6 Clinician – Client Assist, you'll play a pivotal role in providing responsive, trauma-informed mental health support as part of Open Arms' national intake and triage service.

This position offers the opportunity to apply your clinical expertise in a meaningful way — working within a collaborative, values-driven organisation that prioritises wellbeing, flexibility, and professional development.

As an APS 6 Clinician, you will provide professional intake, assessment, and triage services via telephone — ensuring individuals are supported with timely and appropriate pathways to care.

The role operates in a rostered environment between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm, Monday to Friday. Following the initial training period, you will have access to hybrid working arrangements, combining in-office collaboration with work-from-home flexibility.

  • Participate in clinical supervision, peer review, and professional development activities.
  • Ensure compliance with clinical governance, ethical guidelines, and legislative frameworks.

About You

You will bring:

  • Demonstrated experience in clinical intake, triage, or crisis support.
  • Strong skills in suicide risk assessment, safety planning, and brief interventions.
  • High-level written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent IT literacy and attention to detail in documentation.

Mandatory Requirement

  • Australian Citizenship.
  • Relevant qualification and professional registration:
  • AHPRA registration as a Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, or Registered Nurse, OR
  • AASW membership as a qualified Social Worker, OR
