Due to a recent vacancy, we are seeking an experienced HSEQ professional to assist in driving our Safety First 24/7 culture across our Resources Division.

The Position:

You will work under the guidance of the Group Safety Operations Manager who will offer you their full support and leadership as you collectively drive the organisational HSEQ Management Strategy and Policy. A primary focus of this role is maintaining our strong relationship with the client.

In this role you will:

  • You will be the primary HSE point of contact with the client for the Matic Resources portfolio.
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with the client and Matic teams.
  • Championing, embedding and reporting on the Matic Group Critical Risk Management program
  • Performing regular Business Partner audits, Matic Group Internal Audits and inspections.
  • Performing collaborative incident investigations with the Matic team and client, the latter as directed.
  • Maintaining & Monitoring Compliance against Business Response Mechanisms.
  • Assist in driving commitment to HSE Plans, Policies and Procedures across the Matic Group.
  • Assist in ensuring Risk Management is performed in accordance with the "Safety First 24/7", "Stop the Job" and "Respect" programs.
  • Maintaining Quality Assurance Standards across the Matic Group.
  • Measuring, monitoring and reporting on Chain of Responsibility compliance.
  • Supporting the Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Program which includes active participation in annual audits.
  • Supporting the implementation of the online Safety Management System.
  • Assist with supporting and coaching the HSEQ Team and broader Matic Operational Teams in all aspects of HSEQ management.

The successful candidate will possess the following skills and experience:

  • Experience in a similar Health and Safey position -4-5 years minimum. (Transport and Logistics or Mining experience will be highly regarded)
  • Tertiary Qualifications or equivalent in Work Health and Safety. Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (desirable).
  • Incident Investigation experience: 5 Why,  ICAM, etc
  • Safety management systems knowledge & implementation experience.
  • Lead Auditor Health and Safety, Environment and Quality systems (desirable).
  • Experience in co-ordinating injury management.
  • Senior First Aid Certificate (desirable).
  • Mental Health First Aid training (desirable)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong influencing, negotiation and change leadership skills.
  • This position suits a candidate with high emotional intelligence.
  • Some intrastate travel is a requirement of this role.
