Melbourne, Victoria, Australia Sharp & Carter South East Melbourne Full time $60,000 - $180,000 per year

Our client is an Australian owned company, operating in the manufacturing and distribution sector in South-East Melbourne. Starting ASAP, we are looking for an Assistant Accountant on a 6 month contract (with potential for permanency) to join the finance team. Reporting to the Finance Manager, your role will include but not be limited to:

  • Assist with the setup and implementation of the accounting software, ensuring accuracy and smooth transition.
  • Process and record day-to-day financial transactions in the accounting system.
  • Assist with accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
  • Support month-end reconciliations including bank, credit card, and balance sheet accounts.
  • Assist with payroll processing and related compliance requirements.
  • Help with budgeting, forecasting, and providing financial information to management.
  • Liaise with suppliers, customers, and external stakeholders regarding finance queries.
  • Provide administrative and ad-hoc support to the finance function as required.

The successful candidate will have:

  • 1+ year professional experience
  • Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft package
  • Good communication skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Good business acumen combined with problem solving and decision-making skills
  • High level of attention to detail and ability to develop error checking methodologies
