Overview

We have a fantastic opportunity for an Assistant Accountant to join our Finance Department on a full-time basis, located at Caulfield Racecourse. The Assistant Accountant is responsible for assisting with the finance and accounting activities for the PLG business unit of the Club.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with recurring management reporting requirements and ensure they are completed within agreed timeframes.
  • Provide support to the PLG business unit with regards to accounting and finance.
  • Contribute to the budgeting process for PLG venues.
  • Adhere to finance policies and procedures.
  • Work positively in a team environment to build positive and professional relationships.
  • Contribute to both weekly and annual venue budgeting/ forecasting process.
  • Ensure timely & accurate reconciliation of responsible balance sheets.
  • Prepare, Review & Post month end journal entries for responsible departments.
  • Manage the fixed asset register and provide regular reporting.
  • Business partnering with relevant stakeholders.
  • Preparation of Australian Bureau of Statistics & Business Activity Statements.
  • Ensure Purchase Order compliance across responsible departments.
  • Keep up to date on relevant updates on accounting matters and industry news.
Qualifications & Experience (Essential)
  • Considering commencement or working towards graduate and professional membership in either Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (CA) or CPA Australia (CPA) qualified accountant.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance.
  • Minimum three years' experience in accounting related role.
  • Significant experience in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint.
  • Experience with use in Microsoft Dynamics Products desirable but not necessary.
  • Experience with accounting within not for profit, sports or hospitality industry desirable but not necessary.
