Overview of the Position
The Finance Manager plays a key leadership role in overseeing WA Blue Sky's financial management and reporting functions. Responsible for ensuring financial integrity, compliance, and effective resource utilisation, supporting strategic decision-making and driving continuous improvement across financial operations.
The Role
As Finance Manager, you will lead a small finance team, including an Assistant Accountant and shared reporting from the Payroll Officer. You will work closely with the Executive team, Board Sub-Committee, and key stakeholders to provide clear and timely financial insights, strengthen systems and processes, and safeguard the organisation's financial position. Your leadership will be critical in guiding the team, managing risk proactively, and embedding a culture of continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will oversee all financial management, accounting, and reporting to ensure accuracy, transparency, and alignment with organisational objectives. You will lead budgeting, forecasting, and end of month financial reporting to support informed decision-making, while ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and contractual obligations. A key part of your role will be monitoring financial performance, identifying control gaps, and managing risks proactively.
You will champion resource efficiency, and work with the Executive team, stakeholders, and partners to implement robust policies and systems. You will prepare actionable reports for the Board and committees to support effective governance and lead ongoing improvements to finance processes and reporting.
To be successful in this role, you will bring
You will have proven experience in financial management, with at least three years' experience in finance and accounting, supported by a tertiary qualification in Business, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline and professional accreditation such as CPA, CA, or CIMA.
Strong leadership is essential, including mentoring and motivating a finance team. Proven skills in budgeting, forecasting, reporting, financial analysis, and commercial acumen are required, as well as aligning financial management with organisational strategy. Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and problem-solving abilities are also important.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with accounting, finance, and payroll systems are necessary. A commitment to continuous improvement and supporting a positive, values-driven culture is expected.
Payroll and compliance management experience is required, with the ability to manage payroll processes accurately and ensure legislative and policy compliance.
