Director Clinical Operations

The Director Clinical Operations, reports to Director Health Services WA and provides leadership, direction and management for the clinical operations within their designated portfolio, to ensure the delivery of high-quality best care, for client, their carers and families in line with the strategic directions and operational plans of Silverchain WA.
The role makes a significant contribution to business development in WA and has a responsibility for effective communication with both internal and external stakeholders, including the medical, nursing, allied health and administrative workforce, as well as other WA providers and the community.
In addition, the Director Clinical Operations will be responsible for providing leadership and management of select client service contracts within WA, and at the direction of the Director Health Services WA, participating in and/or leading national projects and committees.
Key responsibilities
- Provide leadership and expertise in clinical service delivery aimed at achieving the strategic and operational objectives of Silverchain WA.
- Lead and drive a focus on clinical quality and safety in the delivery of sustainable services to the community across clinical services, including maintaining organisational accreditation to National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards.
- Provide leadership and drive of business development opportunities that support strategic growth.
- Role model and lead a culture of excellence based on the organisation's values to ensure the organisation delivers client focussed service in an adaptive, responsive and performance oriented manner.
- Support the Director Health Services WA and colleagues on the WA Health Care Executive team with the implementation of organisation-wide change programs to improve performance in relation to clinical quality, safety, innovation and sustainability.
- Ensure the effective identification, management, monitoring and reporting of clinical and corporate risks within clinical service delivery.
- Continuously scan, monitor and respond to workforce planning and development needs to ensure maintenance and enhancement of workforce capacity and capability to meet Silverchain and the Health Care Division's current and future needs.
- Lead, manage and ensure employees are appropriately trained to ensure service delivery is high quality, meets client needs, achieves price/cost and volume targets, and complies with policies, procedures and contractual obligations, as well as building a platform for promoting new business opportunities.
- Actively develop and foster effective external working relationships to ensure achievement of strategic and operational objectives; continuous service improvement and exploration of opportunities for growth and new business.
- Actively develop and foster internal working relationships across the Silverchain Group at a National, State, and Business Unit level through working collaboratively with colleagues across the Group and participating in and/or leading national projects and/or committees.
- Develop and recommend strategies for clinical services that align and support the achievement of divisional performance targets and Silverchain's Strategic Plan.
- Continuously monitor and manage clinical service activity, outputs and financial performance to ensure they achieve or exceed agreed quality, activity and financial outcome expectations.
- Manage occupational safety and health within legislative requirements and organisational policies and procedures to minimise risk for employees and clients and to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
- Provide strategic and operational advice to the Director Health Services WA related to the functional areas of accountability.
For this role, you will possess
- Tertiary qualification in a related discipline is required, to contribute to division and business unit objectives through the provision of management support and advice; co-ordination of activities and project management.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities to lead, support, manage, coach and mentor an effective clinical team.
- Demonstrated experience in the effective and efficient management of physical and financial resources in a complex clinical environment.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of clinical governance, quality standards, quality management systems and working within legislative and contractual frameworks/agreements to ensure compliance.
- Flexible approach together with decision making, negotiation, influencing and advanced problem-solving skills to innovatively manage the daily operations and risks of a dispersed, complex clinical service delivery environment.
- Proven capacity to influence and negotiate solutions in high level complex political environments, such as state and national health departments, and executive levels of government, and public service.
- A demonstrated understanding of community health care and aged care services.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement business plans and strategies in an operational environment to support business growth opportunities.
- Well-developed communication (written, verbal and listening) and interpersonal skills to develop effective relationships and communicate at all levels.
- Demonstrated time management and organisational skills to effectively plan and prioritise work tasks and projects.
- Demonstrated computer literacy in word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software to prepare correspondence and effective documentation.
