Key responsibilities:

· Oversee the daily operations of the kitchen, ensuring smooth workflow and timely delivery of dishes.

· Collaborate on menu creation, incorporating seasonal ingredients and balancing budget constraints.

· Supervise the preparation and cooking process, ensuring consistency and quality in every dish served.

· Liaise with management, dietitians, and staff to address food preparation and dietary considerations.

· Implement and maintain rigorous hygiene standards, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations.

· Order and manage kitchen inventory, coordinating with suppliers to maintain optimal stock levels.

· Train and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and skilled team environment.

· Monitor storage conditions, including temperature control, and manage the preservation of ingredients.

· Contribute to cost management by estimating food and labor expenses and optimizing kitchen operations.

· Ensure customer satisfaction by adapting to special requests and dietary requirements.

· Participate in the design and development of menus, using seasonal produce and staying current with culinary trends.

· Support in staff selection, training, and ongoing professional development within the kitchen team.

Requirements:

· Must hold a Certificate IV or higher qualification in Cookery, having qualification of hospitality management or relevant, with formal training in the Australian culinary industry.

· Solid understanding of Japanese food, with experience in preparing and serving Omakase.

· Prior experience in a restaurant environment is essential; experience in a Japanese food setting is preferred.

· Commitment to delivering high-quality dishes with consistency and attention to detail.

· Creative and passionate about culinary arts, with a strong desire for continuous learning and skill development.

· Reliable, hardworking, and takes pride in food preparation and presentation.

· Willingness to share skills and knowledge with team members, contributing to a positive work environment.

· Fluent in English, with strong communication skills for effective teamwork.

· Proficiency in additional languages is highly desirable, enhancing customer interaction.
