About Us

Our companies are growing, multi-brand businesses with 30+ staff across , warehouse, retail/store and outbound sales. We're a multicultural team (English + Mandarin speakers) looking for a hands-on HR Manager to build scalable people systems, strengthen compliance, and elevate performance and culture.

The Opportunity

You'll be the first dedicated HR hire, owning the full employee lifecycle and partnering with Operations, Warehouse, and Sales leaders to create consistent, compliant, and practical HR processes across the group.

Key Responsibilities

People Operations & Advisory

  • Own end-to-end recruitment: workforce planning, job briefs, sourcing, interviews, offers, onboarding.
  • Coach managers (office, warehouse, sales) on performance, conduct, feedback, and team development.
  • Run probation, performance reviews, PIPs, and succession planning.

Compliance & Risk

  • Ensure compliance with Fair Work, Awards, NES, and WHS obligations; maintain policies/handbook.
  • Manage incident reporting, return-to-work, and consultative safety processes; chair safety toolbox sessions with managers.
  • Maintain accurate HR records, right-to-work checks, and privacy compliance.

Culture, Engagement & Communication

  • Drive engagement initiatives for a multicultural workforce; promote inclusive, respectful communication.
  • Mediate workplace issues and resolve grievances early and fairly.
  • Lead recognition programs and internal comms (English; Mandarin capability highly valued).

Remuneration, Payroll Support & Benefits

  • Advise on pay frameworks, promotions, and market benchmarking.
  • Partner with Accounts/Payroll on accurate and timely payroll inputs (rosters, allowances, penalties, leave).
  • Track HR metrics: turnover, absenteeism, hiring time, probation pass rate, training completion.

Learning & Development

  • Build role-based onboarding and ongoing training (WHS, customer service, warehouse SOPs).
  • Identify skill gaps; implement targeted training with internal SMEs and external providers.

What Success Looks Like (First 90–180 Days)

  • 30–60 days: HR audit completed; priority risks and quick wins delivered; policy suite consolidated; hiring pipeline live.
  • 90 days: Consistent onboarding & probation process in place; WHS calendar and consultation running; manager toolkits rolled out.
  • 180 days: Performance review cycle implemented; engagement actions in progress; turnover and incidents trending down; hiring time reduced.

Requirements (Must-Haves)

  • 4–7+ years generalist HR experience, including advisory to line managers in Australia.
  • Solid knowledge of Fair Work, NES, Awards, and practical WHS compliance in warehouse/office/retail settings.
  • Proven experience setting up HR processes from scratch in an SME or multi-site environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; can communicate policies and coach staff at all levels.
  • Excellent written & spoken English; confident drafting policies, letters, and investigation notes.
  • Right to work in Australia.

Highly Desirable

  • Mandarin fluency (to support Chinese-speaking warehouse and store staff).
  • Experience in automotive parts, e-commerce, wholesale/distribution, or fast-paced warehousing.
  • Exposure to rostering/time-and-attendance and payroll inputs (Xero/KeyPay or similar).
  • Training design/facilitation (WHS/toolbox, leadership basics, customer service).
