About the Role of Director of Public Relations:

Reporting to the Regional Commercial Director, the Director of Public Relations is responsible for the development and execution of an annual strategic and integrated plan that is comprised of public relations, social media and marketing communications strategies that support the hotel's business objectives, increase awareness and positive perception of the hotel and its Food & Beverage outlets, and contribute to driving traffic and revenues.

To thrive in this role, the ideal candidate will have an eye for detail, an ear for a great story, a thirst for multi-tasking and a hunger for results, working independently or in collaboration, to meet tight deadlines whilst managing multiple projects simultaneously. The ideal candidate will have solid and long lasting media and influencer relationships across the travel, lifestyle and tourism industries and be able to deliver robust PR & Communications strategies for a market leading luxury brand.

What you will do:

  • Develop and execute a strategic plan including PR, social media and other marketing communications channels to support the business objectives of the hotel

  • Deploy a creative content strategy across multiple owned and earned channels which presents relevant and engaging content and increases follower engagement

  • Manage the hotel's digital content strategy including the website, APP, OTA's and social media channels, by setting metrics, monitoring results and tracking ROI

  • Manage imagery and branding elements for the hotel including coordination of photography, videography, imagery, print collateral and publications

  • Engage in media and influencer relations by actively managing professional relationships with local and regional media, by hosting media visits, building partnerships, pitching targeted story ideas, organising fam trips and photo shoots, entertaining key contacts

  • Manage the internal and external communications strategy, handle incoming media enquiries and support social PR activities

  • Work closely with operational departments and the senior leadership team on marketing and promotional strategies, budgets and communications

What you will bring:

  • 5+ years' experience in a senior PR & communications leadership role within the hotel/travel/tourism industry or within a luxury brand

  • A leadership style that is authentic, engaging and strategic, based on identified business priorities and capable of mentoring and driving team success

  • Skilled storytelling and content creation that is aligned with and enhances the Sales & Marketing strategy

  • Impeccable communication, negotiation and influencing skills

  • Sense of style and aesthetics, with a sharp attention to detail

  • A self-starter with strong project management skills and the ability to organise, prioritise and delegate in a fast paced environment

  • Desire to transform the execution of PR and maximize impact of relationships and activations

  • Proficiency in leveraging social media networks and related monitoring tools

  • The ability to create newsworthy events, develop story ideas and follow through with pitch leads

  • Tertiary Qualifications in communications/journalism/public relations/ marketing highly regarded
