Position purpose:

The purpose of this role is to provide leadership across the Residential Association (Res) as part of the Res Executive (President, Vice President & Treasurer). The Res Executive is responsible for planning and organising events, as well as making decisions affecting the Res. Association between regular meetings.

Key responsibilities:

  • Attend scheduled training sessions and events including (but not limited to)
  • Training week held prior to the beginning of Semester 1
  • Enrolment day to welcome new students
  • Work closely with the Res President, acting as deputy as required.
  • Attend all Res Meetings, taking minutes and ensuring relevant information is provided to the Deput Principal after the meeting.
  • Work effectively as a member of the Residential Association and Student Leadership Team. This includes displaying respect, support and cooperation with the other student leaders in the achievement of their responsibilities and bringing together the Raymont community.
  • Conduct yourself as a role model (both on and off site) for other college residents, displaying loyalty to the college and actively participating in college life and the development of a positive and caring community.
  • Be responsible for ensuring that the affairs of the Res are conducted efficiently, and the workload is distributed amongst the Res Executive.
  • In conjunction with other members of the Res Exec, shall be jointly responsible for the organisation and smooth running of the Res Shop, Res functions, social sport and social events.
  • Represent Raymont Residential College when required.
  • Model the values of the Uniting Church in Australia, Queensland Synod in day to day work including interactions with managers, lay staff, ministry agents, clients and stakeholders.
  • Compliance with Queensland Synod policies, procedures and relevant legislation.
  • Comply with Health and Safety directions and Public Health directions.
  • Undertake other duties as and when directed within the scope of the role and the capabilities of the incumbent, as directed by the Deputy Principal / Principal.

Key performance indicators:

  • Res General Meeting Agenda is determined and distributed at least a week prior to the meeting.
  • Raymont residents are provided with appropriate sporting events and social opportunities throughout the year.
  • Regular attendance and contributions to fortnightly SLT meetings and catch ups with the Deputy Principal and Principal.
  • Maintain alignment with the Office of Synod purpose, culture and values (values referenced under additional requirements).

Reporting relationship and delegations:

  • Position reports to the Deputy Principal

Selection criteria:

  • The successful applicant must be a resident of Raymont Residential College and must have lived in Raymont Residential College for at least one semester.
  • A GPA of 5 and above is desirable.

Experience and skills:

  • Ability to plan and organise and attend the social/cultural/sporting calendar and Res events.
  • Demonstrated administrative skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated reliability and proven ability to utilise a high degree of initiative and decision making within a communal lifestyle.
  • Demonstrated resourceful leadership and team management skills
  • Ability to apply strong communication skills in dealing with students and College employees.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage competing priorities while still achieving strong results.
  • Demonstrated personal character including compassion, respect, integrity and personal courage.
  • Demonstrated ability to act with impartiality and honesty.
  • Commitment to working within the purpose and values of Raymont Residential College.

Additional requirements:

  • A current QLD Driver's Licence (desirable)
  • The successful applicant must be a resident of Raymont Residential College.
  • The successful applicant must be eligible to legally work in Australia and proof of eligibility may be requested.
  • Behave in accordance with the values of the Office of the Synod.
