**Position purpose**:
The purpose of this role is to provide leadership through upholding and promoting a healthy and positive culture within our Raymont College community. As the leader of a designated unit, this position works closely with the Deputy Principal and Principal to provide wellbeing and leadership across all aspects of university life.
***Key responsibilities**:
General Duties
- Proactively lead and influence Raymont Residential College for good, and work to uphold a positive and vibrant culture in which all students can flourish.
- Work effectively as a member of the Residential Assistant (RA) and Student Leadership Team. This includes displaying respect, support and cooperation with the other RA’s and Senior Residential Assistants (SRA) in the achievement of their responsibilities and bringing together the Raymont community.
- Resolve unit matters and issues, which may include noise complaints, minor injuries or disputes, untidiness and cleanliness of common areas.
- Actively engage with students, particularly those within the designated unit, encouraging residents to attend all College events, tutorials and Raymont social events.
- Ensure that late meals are collected and delivered to residents, maintenance requests are submitted, and common areas of the designated unit are clean and tidy.
- Raise matters of concern among residents swiftly to the Deputy Principal and other Raymont staff when required and refer students to College staff where serious issues arise (health, academic, social etc).
- Attend scheduled training sessions and events including (but not limited to)
- Training week held prior to the beginning of Semester 1
- Raymont enrolment day
- University Open Days (QUT, ACU)
- Formal Raymont events, including various dinners and Gala
- Actively participate in the organisation of a variety of unit community events each month.
- Support the Resident’s Association in the running of social events and sport.
- Be a conduit for communication of information to residents.
- Act as a Student Ambassador for Raymont Residential College as required.
- Model the values of the Uniting Church in Australia, Queensland Synod in day to day work including interactions with managers, lay staff, ministry agents, clients and stakeholders.
- Compliance with Queensland Synod policies, procedures and relevant legislation.
- Comply with Health and Safety directions and Public Health directions.
- Undertake other duties as and when directed within the scope of the role and the capabilities of the incumbent, as directed by the Deputy Principal / Principal.
Residential Assistant Duty:
- Remaining within Raymont Residential College after hours to assist other residents and the Duty SRA.
- Assisting students to return to their unit in the event of a lock out.
- Doing rounds of all units, the Dining Room, gym and study areas between 9 and 10 pm, noting general unit tidiness etc. before reporting to the Duty SRA around 10 pm.
- Supporting the Duty SRA in the event of an emergency such as a fire alarm or student incident/injury.
- Deliver late meals not collected by Residents.
- Deal with any noise complaints/resident issues and refer them to the SRA when required.
***Key performance indicators**:
- Raymont residents are provided a warm welcome and an appropriate orientation to the College.
- Regular attendance and contributions to fortnightly SLT meetings providing a report on unit life.
- New residents are successfully inducted and supported into College life.
- All residents in their unit understand the values & rules of the College, are aware of what is expected, outcomes of meetings and upcoming events.
- Noise complaints and student issues are resolved in a respectful and timely manner.
- Maintain alignment with the Office of Synod purpose, culture and values (values referenced under additional requirements).
**Reporting relationship and delegations**:
- Position reports to the Deputy Principal
**Selection criteria**:
- Must be a resident of Raymont Residential College
- A maintained GPA of 5 and above is desirable.
Experience and skills:
- Demonstrated maturity, reliability and proven ability to utilise a high degree of initiative and decision making within a communal lifestyle.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management skills.
- Demonstrated personal character including compassion, respect, integrity and personal courage.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage competing priorities while still achieving strong results.
- Demonstrated ability to act with impartiality and honesty.
- Commitment to working within the purpose and values of Raymont Residential College.
**Additional requirements**:
- A current QLD Driver’s Licence (desirable)
- Residential Assistants are required to be on sight a minimum of four out of seven nights.
- Residential Assistants are required to undertake RA Duty Week on the basis of about once every 13 weeks (as per roster).
