Wodonga, Victoria, Australia Indie Education HR & Payroll Full time $98,444 - $128,013 per year
Introduction

Description

Indie School and Indie College work together to provide supportive, tailored education opportunities for young people and adults.

Indie School offers a personalised learning environment with individualised education plans designed to meet each student's unique needs and life circumstances. With smaller class sizes, students can identify their strengths and build confidence in areas where they need support. Our approach is grounded in Adult Education philosophies, emphasising choice, independence, mutual respect, and accountability. In return for greater self-responsibility, students experience increased autonomy in their learning.

Whereas, Indie College is a not-for-profit Registered Training Organisation (RTO) that delivers nationally recognised training. It supports young people and adults who may have disengaged from education due to personal or health challenges. Our programs help learners develop Language, Literacy, and Numeracy skills while exploring pathways back into school, employment, or further accredited training.

This teaching position will be located at our Indie College site in Wodonga, where the successful applicant will work one-on-one or in small groups to deliver the VCE Vocational Major. This is a non-traditional teaching role, focusing on re-engaging students who have not experienced success in conventional learning environments. The successful candidate will work 1:1 and with small groups to move them through the coursework.

Our highly experienced teaching team is supported by a Head of School, Assistant Heads of School, Education Support Assistants, and Welfare Officers.

The role may commence ASAP or we will wait for the right person.

About Indie School:

Indie School provides students the opportunity to learn in a supportive environment using individualised learning and education plans, tailored to each student's own education and life circumstances. Smaller class sizes allow students greater opportunity to identify their strengths and work to improve areas in which they lack confidence.

The greatest difference between Indie School and many other alternative education settings is that our foundations lie in Adult Education philosophies. Choice, independence, mutual respect and accountability all have a significant role to play. In return for higher levels of self-responsibility, the students can enjoy some greater freedoms.

Our schools are located in areas of socio-economic disadvantage, and we work with students who have found it difficult to engage with mainstream education for a variety of reasons. Our aim is to re-engage students with learning, improve literacy and numeracy skills and focus on the next step in the learning journey for each student: be that a desire to return to mainstream, pursue a TAFE/RTO pathway or to get ready for the workforce.

Our shared mission is to respond to the learning needs of Australian communities in a positive manner, underpinned by strong corporate governance and financial management. Our core values of respect, innovation, self development, and teamwork underpin every aspect of our work.
