About the role

Are you passionate and committed Disability Support Worker looking to make a difference. At Endear Care, we pride ourselves on delivering compassionate, person centred supports to people living with a disability.

We are currently seeking Disability Support Workers to join our dedicated team in providing high quality and empowering supports to a participant who resides in Werribee. The ideal candidate is required to be mature individual with a minimum of 2 year experience, working with individuals who have complex mental health needs. Our participant prefers female workers with a proven record of working in the Disability Sector and hold at a minimum Certificate IV in Disability. Having a Diploma of Mental Health will be an added advantage.

We are seeking candidates who are committed to travel to Werribee area to provide safe, respectful, and dignified supports to our participant who resides in that area.

You will assist our client with community participation, taking them to appointments, assist with personal care and domestic care as well as daily living skills. As the successful applicant in this role you will work to facilitate the delivery of quality services and achieve positive outcomes with and for the client within the house.

What you will bring

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in disability support role.
  • Certificate IV in Disability (or higher)
  • Excellent Communication skills- verbal and written.
  • A calm, friendly and polite demeanor, even in challenging situations
  • A strong team player mentality with a collaborative approach
  • The ability to set and maintain clear boundaries while preserving the therapeutic relationship.
  • Empathy, compassion, and a positive attitude towards supporting others.
  • Have a car, comprehensive insurance and full driving licence.

Duties include:

  • supporting our participant with domestic related skills such as shopping, cleaning and cooking.
  • Promoting independence and inclusion.
  • Providing meal assistance and meal preparation
  • Following individualised care plans and contributing to the participant's ongoing development.
  • Basic tasks that may include booking appointments, assisting with shopping, paying bills, liaising with service coordinator
  • Accompany to social group and other activities if required
  • Supporting the client with transporting their children to school and pick-up from school.
  • Requirements
  • Certificate IV in Disability or Mental Health highly desirable
  • Experience within disability, mental health, aged care, community services or youth work.
  • Clear and effective communication skills and ability to establish a professional relationship with participants and their families
