About the role
The Executive Support Officer plays a critical role in delivering high-quality executive and administrative support to the Executive Director, Health Safety and Staff Wellbeing, contributing directly to the achievement of key organisational objectives.
As an integral member of a dynamic executive team, you will operate in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment that manages a substantial workload and handles highly sensitive information with utmost discretion. We are seeking a proactive and experienced professional who can swiftly adapt and confidently manage directorate services and functions, requiring minimal training to make an immediate impact.
About you
The successful candidate will:
- Strong time management and prioritisation skills to facilitate the optimal use of the executive's time.
- Excellent organisational abilities in managing diaries, scheduling appointments, travel arrangements, and supporting meetings to effectively manage the executive's agenda.
- Proficiency in drafting and preparing a variety of business documents such as correspondence, agendas, minutes, presentations, and briefing notes to support business requirements.
- Experience in gathering, collating, and synthesising background information to ensure informed decision making and effective planning for the executive.
- Capability to maintain and improve administrative practices, systems, and procedures for enhanced efficiency and service delivery.

- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

As a condition of employment, successful candidates who are not currently employed by the Department must provide a current Working with Children Check (WWCC) clearance number. There is no requirement to renew the WWCC once it expires after five years. Employer obligations under the WWCC will apply only for the duration of its validity, up to five years.
Candidates must have Australian work rights (citizens, permanent residents, New Zealand citizens or a valid work visa). Ongoing (permanent) roles are open to Australian citizens and permanent residents and New Zealand citizens, while temporary roles welcome applicants with a visa.
