About the role

The Executive Assistant provides high level confidential executive, administrative and project management support to the General Counsel and Deputy General Counsels. The Executive Assistant also provides professional customer service to internal and external stakeholders and respond to enquiries and resolves issues in a prompt and professional way, where possible, and exercises sound judgement in deciding which matters require the Executive Director's attention and which matters can be delegated to other Senior Officers.

About you

To be successful, the candidate will need to have:

  • Strong administrative and organisational skills to manage diaries, meetings, records, and logistics efficiently.
  • Strong attention to detail, confidentiality, adaptability, and the ability to manage competing priorities under pressure.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and experience with databases and scheduling tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate with stakeholders, prepare correspondence, and provide administrative guidance.
  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritise tasks including minute-taking, action tracking, and supporting consistent, high-quality service delivery.
  • Knowledge of departmental policies and processes for purchasing, payments, record keeping, and continuous improvement in administrative support.
  • Experience in a legal team/firm would be highly desirable with a demonstrated understanding of legal concepts, documents and procedures.
  • Experience in a school would be highly desirable.

Key knowledge and experience 

  • Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
