Management Accountant – High Impact Role

A major privately owned Australian manufacturing group — operating across advanced industrial assembly, precision components, specialised coatings, food products, and emerging rail technologies — is seeking an exceptional Management Accountant to strengthen financial leadership and drive commercial insight across a diverse and growing operation.

The company is a long-standing Tier 1 supplier to a globally recognised heavy-vehicle manufacturer and is now expanding into new technology areas, major customer programs, and new profit centres. With several decades of strong performance and further growth ahead, this is a succession-critical appointment with visibility across the entire business.

You will be the key financial partner supporting operations, production, procurement, and the executive team. You will be responsible for strengthening internal controls, interrogating financial statements, and ensuring the numbers are accurate, timely, and deeply informative for decision-making.

Authority gravitates to those who can use it — and the right person will quickly become the central financial voice in the organisation.

What You Will Lead & Improve

1. Cost Accounting & Product/BOM Profitability

2. Analyse and validate BOM accuracy across varied product lines

3. Partner with production, quality, and planning to confirm true consumption
4. Assess model, variant, and customer profitability

5. Support pricing discussions with major customers in the automotive and rail sectors

6. Departmental Accounting & Reporting Excellence

7. Strengthen monthly financial statements (accuracy, insight, interrogation)

8. Provide clear variance explanations (labour, overheads, materials, imports)
9. Improve divisional visibility and decision-making

10. Enhance board-level reporting depth

11. Forecasting & Cashflow Leadership

12. Lead rolling forecasts and cashflow reporting

13. Work directly with the CEO on business drivers

14. Align forecasting with operational realities

15. Systems, Controls & Process Improvement

16. Modernise internal reporting frameworks

17. Leverage under-utilised tools for costing and analysis
18. Strengthen controls in specialised environments (e.g., high-security operations)

19. Support integration of new technologies and future acquisitions

20. Finance Team Leadership & Uplift

21. Mentor and guide a capable finance/admin team

22. Assess skill gaps and redistribute responsibilities
23. Raise accuracy, accountability, and performance standards
24. Lead through a transition period while maintaining continuity

Salary & Location

$155k–$185k + Super, aligned to experience, impact, and leadership capability.

About You

• Degree in Accounting/Finance/Commerce (CPA/CA preferred)
• Strong manufacturing management accounting background
• Costing, BOM, and product profitability expertise
• High analytical capability and commercial judgement
• Ability to influence and partner cross-functionally
• Hands-on, detail‑driven, and improvement‑oriented
• Leadership presence and aspiration for future senior responsibility
