BLC is currently seeking an Assistant Estimator to join our workforce.

Location

The heart of the company functions from our conveniently situated Head Quarters in Underwood, central to all the action on the ground.

About you

We are looking for an Assistant Estimator to assist in the growth of the organisation. The individual will need to thrive on solving complex challenges and exceeding the expectations of their valued project partners.

Working with the all levels of the organisation and liaising directly with clients and suppliers, the Assistant Estimator will be involved in a diverse range of pre-tender stage tasks. Reporting directly to the Estimator / Project Manager, you will be based at our Underwood office.

The Assistant Estimator's role is an integral position within the overall project management team.

Selection of duties will involve:

  • Preparation of cost estimates
  • Bid preparation & submission
  • Data collection, analysis & maintenance of database of estimating costs (plant, labour, materials & subcontractors)
  • Support negotiations with suppliers and subcontractors
  • Close collaboration with site staff and project teams
  • Administrative support, prepare & distribute meeting agendas, take minutes, and follow up on action items
  • Assist in the preparation of project reports, presentations, and status updates

It is envisaged that the successful applicant would have a strong desire to progress and develop their overall project management skills.

To succeed in this role you will have:

  • A personal commitment to OHS&E before all other considerations
  • A strong focus on the quality delivery of services and the constant desire to exceed client expectations
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant Engineering or Landscape Architecture discipline and ideally project based experience
  • Familiarity with construction methods, materials, and equipment
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • An unyielding desire to be an active participant in a successful, dynamic team
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships with people at all levels
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Project
  • Knowledge of estimating software (e.g. AutoCAD, Groundplan)
  • Must have a full driver's licence
