Your role:
Be an electrician in the Navy ensuring ships are kept in peak working order, by maintaining the electrical power, generation, and distribution systems. Whether you already have a trade, you're an apprentice, or you have no experience at all, you'll be paid from day one.
As an Electrical Fitter (known in the Navy as Marine Technician – Electrical), you'll gain all the skills needed with extensive on-the-job trade training and get a Certificate III in Engineering – Electrical Fitting, with opportunities to obtain further qualifications (up to and including a Diploma). You may also be able to use your existing qualifications and be eligible for recognition of prior learning.

Submariner:
There is also the option to specialise as an Electrical Fitter Submariner and be a part of the most exclusive and stable workforce in Australia. Your role will be to maintain and operate the submarine's electrical systems, including hydraulic systems, refrigeration systems, and electrical power generation, storage and distribution.
Salary:
Upon completion of your initial military and employment training, you'll enjoy a salary package starting from $87,929 for surface fleet and $97,628 for submariners.
Period of Service requirements:
General Entry Sailor roles now have an Initial Minimum Period of Service (IMPS) between 2 and 3 years for all applicants.
Eligibility:
For these roles, you must be at least 17 at the time of enlistment, an Australian Citizen, and have passes in Year 10 English, Maths and Science.
