The role is part of the
wider Enterprise Risk and Enablement division of Service NSW. The division is
broadly responsible for managing outward customer payments, organisational
risk, policy and compliance, privacy and fraud control, and other governance
functions.
About
the role
We
are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Senior Advisor to lead policy and
compliance initiatives that support effective governance and operational
excellence across our agency. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in
complex regulatory environments and is passionate about driving continuous
improvement in public sector policy and practice.
Your
day to day
- Lead the development, implementation, and review of policy frameworks and compliance strategies
- Provide expert advice on legislative obligations, risk management, and regulatory best practice
- Monitor compliance activities and support internal audit and assurance processes
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure policies are practical, effective, and aligned with agency objectives
- Prepare high-quality reports, briefings, and submissions for senior executives and government bodies
- Champion a culture of integrity, accountability, and continuous improvement
About
you
You're
a confident communicator and critical thinker with a strong understanding of
public sector governance. You bring a proactive approach to problem-solving and
have a proven ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into clear,
actionable policy.
Essential
Requirements
- Demonstrated
experience in policy development and compliance within government or
regulatory settings - Strong
knowledge of NSW Government legislative and regulatory frameworks - Excellent
written and verbal communication skills - Proven
ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes - Relevant
tertiary qualifications in law, public policy, governance, or a related
field and/or relevant experience
