About the Role

The Policy Advisor – Workplace and Industrial Relations position plays a pivotal role in shaping and implementing organisational policy and framework, particularly in the realm of workplace and industrial relations, human resources policy and strategy. This position requires an individual who possesses exceptional analytical and communication skills with excellent attention to detail.

The successful candidate will bring capability to lead and advise on policy alignment following bargaining processes. Additionally, they should have a strong HR generalist and workplace relations background.

The APS6 Policy Advisor will research, draft, and review HR and workplace and industrial relations policies, ensuring alignment with current legislation, Australian Public Sector and best practices. They will possess exceptional policy analysis, drafting, communication and implementation skills.

This role will:

  • Lead the development and implementation of a HR policy management framework, supporting and engaging in stakeholder consultation to gather input, foster collaboration, and facilitate agreement on proposed changes and implementation.
  • Monitor changes in workplace and industrial relations legislation, awards, and agreements, and proactively recommend policy updates or new initiatives.
  • Be proficient in interpreting legislation, industrial instruments, and HR data analytics.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of workplace and industrial relations policies and programs, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
  • Advise leadership and staff on policy interpretation, compliance risks, and strategic opportunities. Exemplary written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey complex information to diverse audiences is required.
  • Develop and present reports, analytics, and recommendations to support management decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Partner with People and Capability teams to ensure consistent and best practice policies monitored and implemented.

Salary: This role offers between$98,045 to $110,612 plus 15.4% superannuation depending on skills and experience.
