About the role:
As Maintenance Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading, developing, and supporting a team of fitters and electricians to ensure the smooth running of our plant and equipment. This role is critical in maintaining operational efficiency through effective preventative maintenance, managing breakdowns, and driving continuous improvement.
The Maintenance Department is responsible for the maintenance, upkeep, repair, replacement, and introduction of machinery, plant, and equipment to ensure the business can achieve its production demands.
The purpose of the Maintenance Team Leader is to effectively manage, lead, and develop a team of maintenance fitters and electricians, ensuring day-to-day operations, preventative maintenance, and breakdowns of plant, equipment, and machinery are handled efficiently to maintain business performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, develop, and manage the Maintenance Team in day-to-day operations, breakdowns, and planned/scheduled maintenance.
- Monitor team duties, ensuring compliance with company policies, GMP standards, and WHS regulations.
- Effectively prioritise breakdowns, ensuring the best use of available maintenance staff.
- Liaise with the Maintenance Coordinator to ensure all PM/SM work is completed accurately and on time, and assist in developing PM/SM plans and procedures.
- Report daily to the Maintenance Manager on team performance, identifying improvements and training needs.
- Oversee training, induction, and development of Maintenance Team members, including GMP, Blue Card procedures, and safety requirements.
- Monitor team members' labour, overtime, and weekend work.
- Ensure WHS or QA issues are promptly reported and investigated via Rapid.
- Communicate with Operations & Production Managers to resolve maintenance issues efficiently.
- Supervise contractors, ensuring all documentation and safety measures are in place before work commences.
- Maintain control over work orders, spare parts requests, and contractor/service requests.
- Conduct daily and weekly equipment, meter, and plant checks, reporting any defects or issues.
- Keep the Maintenance Manager informed of major issues, planned resolutions, and indicative timeframes.
What We're Looking For:
- Must have experience in high tempo on demand production with in a FMCG food/meat industry
- Must have experience in PM and SM delivery
- Must have min 5 years' experience in Team lead role with FMCG food/meat manufacturing business
- Experience in dealing with production managers and other key personal on shift
- Ability to react to a situation on decides accordingly in regards to production requirements
- Must be a qualified electrician with extensive experience pneumatics, hydraulics and some experience in fault finding PLC and have a full Australian electrical licence
- Previous experience managing, leading and developing a team of personnel
- Proven experience within a 'hands on' operational environment
- Experience in the use of CMMS in issuing spares and raising and completing Work orders is essential
