Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) is an independent charity that provides support to ill or injured children, high risk expectant mothers' and their families. RMHC South East Queensland is one of the many Ronald McDonald House "Chapters" across the federated structure within Australia and Globally, providing accommodation and other support programs for families. Our services operate 24/7, across all 365 days of the year supporting our mission of providing essential services that remove barriers, strengthen families and promote healing when children need healthcare.

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Finance Manager for a short-term three-month contract to support the finalisation of key finance system implementations across Sage, Martus, and Definitiv. Reporting directly to the Chief Finance Officer, this role will play a critical part in embedding these new systems and ensuring they are set up to meet current and future organisational needs.

In addition to system implementation, the Finance Manager will assess ongoing requirements, identify process improvements, and provide insights to support effective financial operations and planning. This is a practical, solutions-focused role ideal for someone who enjoys working collaboratively across teams, has strong system implementation experience, and can quickly get up to speed in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the finalisation and embedding of new finance systems, including Sage, Martus, and Definitiv, ensuring they are configured effectively for organisational needs.

  • Identify and document ongoing finance system requirements, process improvements, and training needs.

  • Assist with financial operations and reporting during the transition period, ensuring continuity, accuracy, and compliance.

  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to ensure system integration supports budgeting, forecasting, payroll, and reporting functions.

  • Provide practical support and guidance to the finance team to strengthen capability and streamline workflows during system implementation.

We are seeking a practical, solutions-focused finance professional with strong technical expertise and experience in system implementations. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and adaptable, able to quickly assess needs, build relationships, and deliver outcomes in a fast-paced environment. You'll bring a collaborative mindset and a hands-on approach to help set the organisation up for future financial success.

Primarily based at our Herston and South Brisbane Locations.

Requirements of the Role – Key Selection Criteria:

Essential:

  1. Tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, or a related field, with CPA or CA accreditation.

  2. Proven experience in a senior financial leadership role, with responsibility for financial management, budgeting, and reporting.

  3. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement financial systems and strategies that support long-term sustainability and operational efficiency.

  4. Proven leadership and stakeholder engagement skills, with experience working with senior leaders, auditors, and external partners and coaching and developing team members

  5. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills, with the ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.

  6. Commitment to the mission and values of RMHC SEQ, with a strong ethical and service-oriented approach.

Desirable:

  • Experience in the not-for-profit, healthcare, or community services sector, particularly in managing funding models, grants, and donor stewardship.

  • Knowledge of fundraising financial management, including working with philanthropic partners, corporate sponsors, and government funding bodies.

  • Familiarity with financial software and systems, such as Sage, Definitiv and/or Martus
